Despite restrictive family circumstances, their friends arrange for them to have time together. Paloma then becomes pregnant as a result of a skiing trip. At first, the two young lovers plan to escape to India, where even at their ages they could be married. This does not work out, and instead Arturo and all their friends study pregnancy and childbirth so as to arrange for Paloma to give birth clandestinely.
